Bob and his son Joe never caught a walleye and had never been on lake Erie before Monday of this week. After a weekend of big rollers on the lake and the rest of this week looking windy and rainy, it was a beautiful sunny day. The lake was calm and after a safety drill we were on our way. Joe was heading back to college Friday so they wanted to try a new experience before getting back to the books. Bob showed up in an Ohio State football jersey so I knew this was going to be a good day. We headed out to deeper, cooler walleye where the fish have been hanging out and I stopped and looked at the screen. It showed big hooks on the bottom so we started setting lines. First rod out bent over immediatley and it was hard to ever have our 6 rods out at the same time. In short order we had their limit and the fish were definitley a larger class of fish. One walleye came in just under 29″ and Joe is having it mounted. Limits have been consistant all year and it will only improve for this fall and years to come. Lots of open dates in September and October so if you havent experienced walleye fishing on Lake Erie please give me a call at (440)937-5633. Better to be lucky than good.
