Dave, his 12 year old son Avery and his brother Greg never fished on Lake Erie before and had no idea what to expect. Avery arrived at the boat and I asked if he wouldn’t mind being my first mate. With a big grin he said, “Sure, Captain Moses.” I had him hold on to the stern line on the starboard side while I released the rest of the lines from the boat. After a safety drill on where the life jackets, fire extinguishers, and flares were, along with the bathroom facilities and trash compartment we were ready to shove off. Avery was at the helm leading us out of the harbor. Once out of the harbor, I took over and headed for the fishing grounds.
We started setting lines and it wasn’t long before we had fish bending the rods. Dave and Greg caught on really fast how to set the rods and net the fish. They were surprised we were fishing with 8 rods at a time. We constantly had fish on all day and ended the day with their limit of 18 walleyes and 13 bonus big white bass. All agreed that this will not be the last time they fish on Noahs’ Ark for walleye. Better to be lucky than good!
