Linda and I have been blessed with 12 grandchildren. Special one on one time isn’t always easy to schedule but this week we have Lola, Olive, and Maddi. Boat rides, swimming in the pool and eating favorite foods is a big hit with all of us. While Maddi and Olive spend all of their time together Lola and I have a special bond. We both love to fish. After the family enjoyed a boat ride and dinner, Linda took the two girls home and Lola and I stayed at the boat. We fished at the dock catching yellow perch, the occasional sheepshead and a nice 5 lb. channel catfish that Lola named Mike and we put him on a stringer. He was still very much alive when we woke up the next day, so Lola let Mike go. We headed out on Noah’s Ark to try and catch a few walleyes. We headed north and there were only a few boats out. We were going to keep going until I saw mark’s on the screen. We got out to 56 feet of water and the mark’s started to fill the bottom of the screen. We ran a deep program and 3 hours later we had our limit of 12 and had to throw one back as we were pulling rods. Lola was awesome reeling in and netting fish for me. Headed home for another pool afternoon. Not sure what tomorrow will bring but I’m excited just thinking about being with them and sweetie. Lola landed a trophy fish which really made the whole day one for the memory books. Better to be blessed and lucky than good.
