Alex, his dad, his dad’s brother in law and his son in law, (I hope I got that right) were greeted by a huge mayfly hatch covering everything at the marina this morning. This was the third bug hatch in 3 weeks and these critters are large enough to really fill the walleyes bellies and turn a good bite off. You can see the pictures on my facebook page if you click at the bottom of this post. This crew came up from the Akron area and asked for a later start time. We headed out about 8 am and were putting lines in the water at 8:30. The bite wasn’t as fast as it had been but we still managed to put their limit in the cooler in good time. They had an awesome time setting lines, learning different techniques and netting all the fish. The fish are getting larger and another happy crew said they will be back again next year. Again, I was the oldest on the boat.
We were greeted by the Wildlife officer when we pulled into the dock. He checked our licenses and our fish. If your legal you have nothing to worry about and I as a Captain welcome them. They keep our playground in great shape for future generations! Better to be lucky and blessed than good.
