Friday morning I stopped at my favorite starting point when fishing. It wasn’t on the lake though, it was stopping in the marina parking lot to see the beautiful sunrise and spending a few minutes being thankful for all my blessings. What you see in the photos of my posts is much more than the fishing experience. The beauty of the water, sky and wildlife can take you millions of miles away from the cares of the world. As I arrived at the dock, I was greeted by a huge mayfly hatch that happens every year at this time. These bug hatches supply a food source for all the fish as they devour them as they hatch and rise from thr bottom of the lake. Jay and his son Mason showed up for their charter and the first thing they noticed was the swarm of mayflys that had landed on everything at the marina. Jay asked if this was going to affect the walleye bite. I smiled and said we will have to find that out. I have always believed if you don’t think you will catch fish, you probably won’t. I said I believe if I can get on the lake I will catch fish. We headed out and went 5 miles out to deeper water where I finished up the day before. Once again it was nonstop catching from start to finish to fill the cooler with our 18 limit of walleye. The guys loved it and said they will definitely be back. Mason said he was going to call me Uncle Moses. We bonded pretty good. Better to be lucky and blessed than good.
