Mike and his crew were all close to my age but as usual I believe I was still the oldest on the boat and first mate Jason Yonkers the youngest. They showed up for a 7am start. We originally said 8am start but the weather forecast was not looking that good for the latter part of the morning. One thing for sure is this boat does not play with mother nature when there is lightning and thunder in the sky. We were an hour into the charter and were at 23 keepers in the cooler. Started thinking maybe we shouldn’t have thrown about 5 legal fish back because it was so fast. Then the lightning and thunder was in the sky. We pulled lines immediately and headed in. This boat does not tempt mother nature. The radar showed it moving east but if I see it in the sky that’s way close enough. They were all satisfied with their 23 of a 24 fish limit. Better to be safe, smart and lucky than stupid. Only takes one wrong decision to spoil a trip. First trip the year that we did not limit in the cooler. Where ever you are #24 walleye, I will be after you next time out.
