It was Tuesday July 3rd. Family day on Lake Erie fishing for walleye. I was excited to get my wife and sweetie Linda, son Jason, daughter-in-law Jenn and grand-kids Sophia and Ryder out for bonanza walleye fishing. They arrived at the dock at 8:00 and the goal was to try and catch a dozen fish by noon and head home for a pool party and picnic. We started running crank baits on the board rods and harnesses on the dipsy-divers. After the first half hour and getting all the rods out, not a bite. I thought to myself, ” Your kidding me, not a slow bite with the kids I hope”. Not willing to give it a chance, I brought in my side of the boat and put 30-jets with harnesses and a spoon on. It wasn’t long before two fish were on. One on the harness and one on the spoon. Two minutes later it was on! We had a good dipsy bite and harnesses going off frequently and the 30 jets producing just as fast, always having a couple of fish on at a time. With the cranks still not producing we proceeded to pull in the cranks and change that size over to 30-jets as well. By noon we had 21 walleye in the cooler and all agreed to pack it in and head for the pool. What an awesome day with the family! Fishing should keep getting better as the walleye keep growing. We threw back at least 3 shorts for every keeper that was over 15″. Noah’s Ark still has lots of days open in August, September and October so give me a call and reserve that day. Better to be lucky than good!
