Russ has been bringing his Mom and wife on perch fishing trips for quite a few years. We always seemed to manage a cooler full near the end of October. The last few years we have struggled to catch perch so we cancelled. This year Russ wanted to try because his mom needed some fish in the freezer, rather than accept a refund. We ventured out to give perch another chance with nightcrawlers, raw shrimp and frozen minnows. After about 40 minutes we had 2 gobies and 1 sheepshead. Russ had his brother Mark and wife Dorothy with him. His mom was home not feeling well. Russ could only fish until noon and it was already 9:45. I suggested we try to, at least, get a few walleye in the cooler before noon. All agreed and we headed out to my honey hole where I limited out just the day before. Put two rods out and they both went off. Before we could get 8 rods in the water we had put 9 walleye and 1 big white bass in the cooler. By 11:30 we had filled the cooler with all their walleye and 4 big white bass. They really enjoyed the fishing charter and agreed that next year we walleye fish! Better to be lucky than good😊
